Nice to Meet You!

We’re Anastasia and Joanna — two sisters and the hands behind Cat’s Eye Corner, a pottery studio tucked in a sunny stone house at a corner house in Douliana village.

What began as a shared love for clay has grown into a space where creativity, community, and a few friendly cats meet. Our studio is filled with the textures of Crete — stone walls, olive branches, soft light, and the quiet hum of making.

At Cat’s Eye Corner, every piece is shaped by hand and fired with care, inspired by the rhythm of village life and the beauty of imperfection. We open our doors to anyone who wants to slow down, play with clay, and experience the joy of creating something real — whether it’s your first pottery class, a painted keepsake, or a long afternoon at the wheel.

Here, every cup, bowl, and sculpture carries a story — ours, yours, and the cats’ who keep watch from the sunny corners.

About us

Anastasia Rutter is a ceramic artist and math teacher, specializing in handmade ceramic educational toys and pottery. Inspired by the children she teaches, her love of mathematics, and her fascination with small, delicate details, she designs pieces that invite curiosity and play. Her work draws from the Montessori and Waldorf philosophies, celebrating imagination, problem-solving, and hands-on learning.

Joanna Rutter has a sharp eye for detail, a deep love of math and geometry, and the rare ability to perfect anything she sets her mind to. With a background in drawing and design, she brings precision, creativity, and structure to the studio — turning ideas into beautifully crafted forms. Her thoughtful problem-solving and artistic intuition shape both the pieces we make and the atmosphere we create.

Together, we’ve built Cat’s Eye Corner in an old stone house on a sunlit corner of Douliana, where clay, creativity, and a few friendly cats meet. Our studio is a space for making, learning, and slowing down — a place where every cup, bowl, and sculpture tells a story of hands, heart, and home
